Fans of dancehall artiste I Octane took to social media to voice their disgust with the revelation that Octane has not been booked to perform on this year's Reggae Sumfest concert in Montego Bay.

I Octane closed the international festival on two occasions to  rave reviews in the past, and he has been on a tear in recent weeks with incendiary performances at  live shows such as 'New Rules', 'Britjam' and 'Top of the Line' so his exclusion from the line-up has caused consternation among his legion of fans when the official lineup was posted online on Wednesday.
"I know that Sumfest is under new management but why no Octane, fans in the west love Octane, he always gives a great performance every year, he is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser so why the change?"one fan posed on Facebook.
The response on Twitter was just as incendiary.
"How Sumfest so biased!? No Octane, no Sumfest!" @badgalrenee tweeted.  Another Twitter user, @monzashotta tweeted: 'wah Sumfest ah deal wid? How the Genna Octane no de pon the show this year after him bun it down 2016".
jhana_grant said: why haven't I seen IOctane listed in the lineup? I come every year from Atlanta and he is my favourite part of the show."
slim_shyv said: How @realioctane not on the flyer this year???? #pleaseexplain.
I-Octane has come a long way since his debut at Reggae Sumfest several years agoas an opening act and through his fiery performances gradually worked his way up to appearing later on the festival to become a middle-order artiste in 2011, when he delivered a set that surpassed the expectations of the Reggae Sumfest crowd. Over the years, I-Octane has been consistent in his career and that has boosted him to become known as one of Jamaica's best artistes. He closed the festival two consecutive years, 2013  and 2014.
He is known for massive hits such as Lose a Friend, L.O.V.E Y.O.U and Gyal A Gi Me Bun.
Other artistes who have not been booked or announced for this year's edition of Reggae Sumfest include Popcaan, Assassin and Konshens.

Platinum Kids Win America's National Sound Championship "US Rumble

One of the most exciting aspects of reggae culture took place inside Amazura nightclub in Queens, New York last Saturday. It was the second annual US Rumble nationals where seven sound systems entered a musical "war" for a spot in the international Irish and Chin World Clash competition. All seven sounds entered the Amazura stage hungry for the coveted title of America's National Champion Sound, "US Rumble Champion", yet only one sound could walk away with the title and that went to Bronx, NY Platinum Kids.
New York's Platinum Kids sound, featuring the dynamic duo, Paul and Marcus Gavin won the US Rumble championship and a slot in the highly acclaimed World Clash competition, to be held later this year. Platinum Kids, known as a juggling sound entered the US Rumble competition as the underdog. Being the only sound on the line up with the least clash experience many considered them less likely to win and an early exit during the competition. Yet, for Paul and Marcus the key element to any performance especially a competition judged by the crowd is to make sure they entertain the audience in front of them. "We may not have the deepest dub box or clash extensively, but over the years we have learned that its all about the crowd, mek sure you entertain them to the best of your ability and win them over" says Marcus the MC of Platinum Kids.
The competition was not an easy one as Platinum Kids competed against the defending US Rumble champion Innocent Sound (Florida) and the runner up of the inaugural US Rumble - King Shine (New Jersey). Both Innocent Sound and King Shine are winners of numerous sound competitions with several titles under their belt . Also in this years US Rumble competition were four other decorated sounds in the sound clash arena, One A Day (Philadelphia), Riddim Force (Florida), Kosmik (Brooklyn, NY) and Black Magic (Atlanta) who met with Platinum Kids in a nail biting "tune fi tune" face off.
During the final round, "tune fi tune", which would declare the winner after the best of 10 songs, Platinum Kids at 3:44 am held the lead with a score 4-0, but Black Magic quickly gained momentum. After playing a dubplate from the late Garnet Silk 'Evacuate', Black Magic immediately won the crowd and came back to even the score 4-4, but Platinum Kids was up for the fight. Platinum Kids went on to play Carl Dawkins 'Satisfaction' (dubplate) followed by a Mighty Diamond 'I Need A Roof' (dubplate) and sealed the championship, winning 6-4.
"First we want to say thanks for the opportunity given to us by Irish and Chin, music is not a hobby for us its a passion and something we take seriously. We've been playing music for over 17 years now so for us this is one a dem achievements we are humbled by and look forward to expanding the brand on an international level" says Paul the selector of Platinum Kids.
Enthusiastic over US Rumble and Platinum Kids win, promoter Garfield "Chin" Bourne says, "Platinum Kids displayed a combination of qualities that ultimately led them to the victory, including strong speech, entertainment and strong mixture of dubplates  mixed with a 'lethal' 45 selections."
After earning their spot in this years World Clash, Platinum Kids await the names of the other contenders who will represent UK and Europe.

Beres Hammond, I-Octane Give Thrilling Performance ... During Former NoMadz Member's Wedding Reception

Vibes master Beres Hammond, dancehall artiste I-Octane and a rising star by the name of Daniel 'Brighter' Gordon created musical magic at Christopher and Maria Gordon's wedding reception at the Tryall Club in Hanover over the weekend.
Gordon, formerly of No-Maddz, also joined the amazingly awesome concert, performing for his new bride, in what could easily assume the position of being one of the most entertaining weddings this year.
Held at the stunning Stella by the Sea Villa, Beres Hammond entered the stage at just about 10 p.m., and his one-hour set totally mesmerised the intimate audience which waited anxiously for his arrival.
It was obvious that the party people who turned out for the wedding were willing to watch their idol, transfixed on stage, not saying a word, while his efficient backup singers, Deja and Dorette Wisdom, took charge. However, the veteran crooner, who is as good as every dollar he charges, serenaded the couple with one of his hit songs, She Loves Me Now.
When he pulled for popular personal anthems such as, Come Back Home and belted the words, "I wish you would stay longer," he never even needed to repeat the words, because it is an undisputable fact that Beres Hammond fans will stay with him all night.
The words from one of his songs, 'Thought I Could Live Without You', sounded almost like an inappropriate statement, as there was no one at this wedding party that would go home without Hammond, even if it was only the sound of his voice humming in their head.
A feel good jam session it was, to the extent that when the vibes master pulled for songs like Double Trouble, and Pull Up The Vibes, it was evident that he had only one care in the world, to satisfy the souls of his audience.
I-Octane
Living up to expectations of being one of dancehall's best, I-Octane brought a lot of energy and magnetism to the stage, choosing to have a performance built on conversing with the audience. Decked out in all-white, the artiste known for hits such as, Lose A Friend, Buss A Blank and Party Turn Up, performed for a solid 60 minutes, dedicating some of his time to mothers and women in the country.
Allowing young Daniel 'Brighter' Gordon, brother of the groom to have his five minutes of fame on stage, the youngster with a voice of gold, did not disappoint.
In fact, Brighter, brought immense excitement to the event. His presentation was followed by the unorthodox and extremely talented group that goes by the name NoMadz.
Christopher and Maria Gordon, tied the knot late last year and shared the moment officially with friends on Saturday.

Jahmiel puts Vershon in the Grave with new Single "Never Drop Guard". In his response  to Vershon diss song "Guard Dog" Jahmiel kicks off the single with a few funeral staples like Coffin and Wreath, making it clear that the Strongest Soldier artist Jahmiel is putting the final nail in the coffin of this lyrical battle.
The single starts out with a slow grave sound as you hear Jahmiel warms up and immediately attack with a lyrical annihilation. Listen for yourself
Never Drop Guard

Vershon, THE IMMORTAL WARRIOR

Just as people thought jahmiel has hammered the final nail in his war with Vershon as he sang about coffin and wreath, his opponent has proven immortal since he still have too many to say. In jahmiel's "Never Drop Guard" song directed at vershon, he ended the verses with an outro saying " put more dirt pon him" which is a clear indication that there was a burial. In response to that, vershon went hard with another diss called "Power Drill" which is a follow up song to "Guard dog". According to version , Jahmiel has admitted he is a dog who guards Mavado's yaad (house). Looking at the number of songs released within the short duration since this lyrical war started, Many are those who have questioned whether the two artists are investing in quantity than quality.

Jahmiel calls Vershon a BABY DOLL

In the heat of the ongoing lyrical argument between the above mentioned names, a lot of claims have been made as a form of defense to prove their lyrical strength.

In vershon's last song (chihuahua), he went hard on Jahmiel saying women sits on his  face  while they "fart". According to him jahmiel has been going around telling selectors not to put his songs in their mixtapes. He went ahead to call jahmiel a Renta Dream and also a Gullyside Chihuahua (dog).

In response to Vershon, Jahmiel told him he used the wrong word (chihuahua) and that he jahmiel is rather a pitbull Bad Dog. To counteract the "fart" claims he said vershon used the word in his song because he speaks a lot of shi. On the renta dread claim, Miel said he is a bad ras not a renta dread.

The shots still continues  as Miel tells his opponent to get a hit song as he did with "Strongest Soldier".

'Ah nuh chihuahua ah me gun with the blue steel ah bark"

"Me nuh kno ah weh di fuc* di butter"..

"Memba seh butter go pon Popcaan after"
He dee jays..

WAR AGAIN [Vershon VS Jahmiel]

After the Mavado and Popcaan feud, there is no slowing down for Jamaican dancehall as two of it's promising talents throw jabs at each other.

Just recently Vershon released a song titled "Too Young" (Jahmiel & Alkaline diss) which talked about how he get girls easily without riches. Many believed the song to be a direct counteraction to Jahmiel's Song with Shenseeaa called "Tell me". Jahmiel gave a reply with a song titled "Too Dump" (Vershon diss) talking  about how he is rich and dont use "young" as an excuse.

As it is always done in dancehall, Vershon has sent a quick rebuttal with the name  "Chihuahua". In his latest song he threw countless jabs at Jahmiel changing his name to "NYAMIEL" and discloses how he intends to trim a couple of his locks to lace his clarks footwear.

A response to CHIHUAHUA (Renta Dread) from Jahmiel is expected in this lyrical war..

Revo Daily is still following up on this feud for more updates.

Droop Lion drops new single Have You Ever Seen The Rain

Ultra-talented Free People Entertainment recording artiste Droop Lion continues to revolutionize reggae music as he stays true to his pledge to “make Reggae great again”.
Armed with a destined-for-success 14-track album, Ideologies, the Rastafarian singer with the signature, soul-searing voice, is ready to rock the world with the release of Have You Ever Seen The Rain, the very first single from the album. March 15 has been designated as the official release date of a song which is sure to evoke memories for many and create a slew of new set for many more.
Have You Ever Seen the Rain is a cover version, but it is just not any cover, it is a time-honoured classic and in true Droop Lion fashion, the singer wholeheartedly embraces it, even as he meticulously strips away the over four decades since the song made its debut and passionately refreshes it with new life. Droop vocally claims this 1970’s hit as his very own, even though he stays true to the original lyrics and  pays tribute to the creators.
Have You Ever Seen the Rain was written by John Fogerty of roots rock group Creedence Clearwater Revival and released as a single in 1971 from the album Pendulum. It racked up many accolades and has sold over 25 million copies.
“This is truly a big song and has been one of my favourites from the very first time that I heard it,” Droop Lion confesses. “For me to do a cover of Have You Ever Seen the Rain is an honour and a pleasure. It is one of those songs that pose a powerful question and, in fact, it is more about life than it is about the weather. The word rain is really a metaphor for so many other things and therefore this song can have a different meaning for each person and at the same time there is also a universal interpretation,” he said reflectively.
Undoubtedly, Droop Lion,  delivers an impressive, reggae-inspired rendition of the rock band’s 1970's song which allows him to remain committed to his own personal musical ideology and identity. This singer, who emerged as one of the leading voices of a new reggae-soul movement, and who has never compromised in order to achieve success, again shows exactly why he has been chosen as the disciple who will put the word ‘great’ back in reggae music.
Have You Ever Seen The Rain the debut          single from, and the first song on  Droop Lion’s brilliant Ideologies album, will be released on March 15 and will also be available for download on digital platforms.
Droop Lion is determined to make Reggae great again and what better way to kickstart this meaningful and historic journey than with this classic song which is open to multiple interpretations: Have You Ever Seen The Rain?

Straight Out Of Kingston, Jamaica We Introduce Singer "Yeshwa" With A Difference

While most are familiar with the popular Reggae and Dancehall vibe emerging out of Jamaica it's official home there are times when the island produce 'in between' talents that are just as interesting.  One such is an artiste callled "Yeshwa" He comes to us managed by independent label Amrit Records. A singer, musician and producer, whose music is refreshing, toned with an international appeal.

As Jamaica wrestle with scant suicide cases and serious crime issues that includes, domestic violence that leads to death and a series of unsolved murders against women, many Jamaicans have come out on their social media pages denouncing the violent acts. The artiste "Yeshwa" supposedly overwhelmed by it all, dropped a mind boggling song called, "Cut Her Loose" just about the same time reports of women gone missing and found dead circulated. The follow up video spiraled across social media as many seemed to share his sentiments.

The track is a definite cut to the chase, it captured the typical relationship woes couples go through, deception and peer pressure which often triggers certain thinking, "cause the thing you a pree fi do har it nuh mek no sense" Yeshwa sings and advises, "nuh badda kill yourself...my youth Cut Her Loose" he sings.

According to his biography, Yeshwa's childhood was impacted by everyday struggles and hardship in a district known as Georges Plain. He attended Frome Technical High school where he studied architectural engineering but had to seek early employment at age 18 to assist his single mother.  He took his first job in the parish as a Tattoo artist and got his inspiration from his grandfather, Alexander Manner a minister, and mother Evelyn Pinnock, a singer at The Church of Holiness in the parish of Westmoreland, Jamaica.

In November 2010 Yeshwa recorded his first song with producer Collin Vibes of High Wave Production entitled, "Step In Da Streets" then went on to record tracks such as "Only God Knows" and "Stress Free". But as the years slipped by he dedicated more of his time to working and reworking his own methodologies and skills in the studio to perfect his self-taught craft in music production and playing lead guitar.

November 2016 he release two singles, 'My Drink' and 'Cut Her Loose.' The single 'My Drink' is a step away from serious social issues such as "Cut Her Loose.' The vibe he brings to this track proves he's diverse and flexible. The uptempo and trendy beat complimented by Yeshwa's softer, smoother vocals encourages trendy lifestyle, this song "My Drink" is one for the clubs.

As for Yeshwa this upcoming easy going Jamaican has this to say, "Music has been my passion, and it has driven me to seek partnership with my friend. We've formulated a strong team and our aim for this movement is to become a force to be reckoned with.

Well from where we stand, things are looking pretty much good for this artiste. As far as we've heard he's gotten the attention of DJ Simbarshe Ngwenya on RTR FM 92.1 over there in Perth, Australia, DJ Bluemoon on BlueBox radio out there in London and DJ Wizology Vibe 105.5 out there in Toronto, Canada. And for us, we are loving the vibe here in Ghana and just wanna encourage Yeshwa to keep the energy up, we watching!

I DONT RAISE THE DEAD - Xhila Roy

"Gorilla" as intriguing as it may sound will pique one's interest to know the context in which it was used as a song title.

Hard Way Survival Music's Recording artist Xhila Roy gave his reason for choosing Gorilla as the title to his song during a radio interview with king Lagazee on HitzFm 103.9 (Lagazee Sounds)

A portion of the verses goes like:

"Simple as yuh see me
Me nuh tek nuh program.
Set me goals an achieve it I listen to no one
Nuh tek bad influence fram nuh frend
Work fi mi things me nuh beg beg nuh frend" ...

Meaning:
As simple as you see me , am not weak to peer pressure. I set my goals and achieve them, i listen to no one. I dont take bad influence from friends because i work for my things but dont beg for them
....

According to him, his in-born "go getting" spirit makes him unstoppable when reaching for his goals.

"Born as a gorilla, grew as a gorilla, energetic as a gorilla " - he said.

When he was asked whether he will still throw lyrical shots to his colleague artist (Jah Lead) he answered by saying;

"Me is not a obeah man, me nuh clash duppy"...

Am waiting on him to respond. Up Until then, me nuh clash duppy so me nuh rise duppy"

Xhila Roy added that Duppy means ghost and he is not a spiritualist to compete with a ghost.

RANGE And VERSHON TO DROP A NEW SINGLE

Singjay Vershon and emerging singer Range pour their hearts out on "Sufferation", a new song to be released this week by YGF Records. The track is produced by Tevin Richards, principal of the Ocho Rios-based label. It is the latest song from Vershon who had an outstanding 2016. For Range, it is the follow-up to her impressive debut song "Inward Rasta", released last December. "Sufferation" hears the duo lamenting the challenges of economic strife, at the same time expressing the importance of keeping one's head above the water.
Range is from St. Ann, a rural parish in Jamaica where Pan reggae legends Bob Marley and Burning Spear were also born.
Born Shana Blair McCormack, she began modeling at age 15 and after being spotted by Pulse International Limited, Jamaica's leading fashion house.
In 2005, she migrated to the United States where she continued modelling in Florida, California and New York for the Tysum and Runways agencies.
Settling in New York, she developed musically by linking with Elroy “Full Rev” McCormack, her husband. Eventually, she found willing mentors in veteran artistes such as Nachilous Demus, Papa Biggie, Michael Palmer and Majestic Son. That period of 'schooling' paid off with "Inward Rasta". which is a sign of things to come from the confident Range. She is working on follow-up projects for Jugglers in Europe and Silver Birds Records.

EYE JUDAH PART WAYS WITH BURNITON MUSIC GROUP

A recent interview held on 29th January, 2017, on Hitz 103.9fm hosted one of Ghana's most promising dancehall acts, Eye Judah. During the interview, two tapes recorded by the host, King Lagazee, was played on air. One tape recorded Eye Judah's previous statement on the same show about his contract with "Burniton Music Group (BMG)". Another recorded Stonebwoy's response to Eye Judah's contract claims with his record label on same show. Eye Judah was asked to clear the air on the issue pertaining the agreement he had with Bhimnation to the public. This is what he said.....

“About 2 or 3 years back, the management of BMG approached me and proposed a signing. The first person who made that approach was Black cedi who was the road manager for Stonebwoy by then.It was Black Cedi who brought me closer to the family and I later met Mr Karl who also was Stonebwoy’s official manager at then. Mr Karl was the second person to speak to me about signing, Jah know star . So the understanding they reached with me was that I should go ahead and represent BMG in my songs, cover artworks, videos and etc for the signing was eventually going to come on.
From my personal observation of how things turned out I felt Stonebwoy was the last party to actually know my connection with them but regardless, he was cool and was even the last person to speak to me about signing. I remember the first song I released during my affiliation with BMG was JAH LOVE. And when I presented that song to Cedi, he realized I didn’t mention BMG in the song so he prompted me yet again to mention it and that I shouldn’t worry everything will work out and the signing will eventually come on. So here’s the case am being given all the freedom to represent BMG throughout my things and given maximum assurance of a contract signing”. As a clever youth, the moment I start represent BMG throughout my art is the moment i “signed ” waiting on the actual signing to put everything to paper because the fans out there is going to see me representing BMG all over the place. In my songs, videos, artworks and will certainly feel my inclusion with the BMG network. So once I’ve been given that much of assurance, I can also push for the deal as a signed art as much as they’re pushing for it and asking me to represent it. So later if Stonebwoy comes on radio and says am not signed onto BMG, then I seize representing BMG".
In addition to the above statements made, he also stated that he is currently not signed to any record label but is being managed by Mr. Karl Gidiglo, the former manager of StoneBwoy. He wished the Bhimnation president well in all his endeavors. - Nanayaw Apenteng

"I WILL CHOOSE SARKODIE OVER THE GH DANCEHALL ARTISTS"...

"I WILL CHOOSE SARKODIE OVER THE GH DANCEHALL ARTISTS"...

For some time now in Ghana, Dancehall has proven to be a competitive brand gaining huge attention both on our local radio stations and stage events.
On the other hand, the likes of Sarkodie, Edem among others have in recent times given a facelift to rap music with collaborative efforts that featured some up and comers who are strong contenders for the game.
With the huge following dancehall commands, it seems to revolve around a handful of artists who represents for the genre. A sign which questions the future of Reggae Dancehall entirety.

To the surprise of #RevoDaily, New sensation Xhila Roy made a submission that popped the eye when asked who his favorite artiste is in dancehall.

"I dont have a dancehall favorite in Ghana. I listen to more jamaican music.
I would rather choose Sarkodie over the big names in Ghanaian dancehall" - he said

Like seriously??? This was his reason:

" He does what i have been longing to see in music(dancehall). He is a human being and may have his flaws but for the fact that he is able to line up young rappers in an attempt to bring some attention on them i like him. If for nothing, he is helping to build a strong foundation for the next generation of rappers.
The faces of dancehall in Ghana make it look like a taboo to do such projects. It is killing the business slowly" he explained.

He has a new single coming up titled SELFISH as disclosed on his facebook handle. REVO DAILY will keep you posted.
